Associate Professor Mustapha Taibi
About
Associate Professor Mustapha Taibi is a distinguished academic at Western Sydney University. He leads the International Community Translation Research Group and serves as Editor-in-Chief of Translation & Interpreting. His teaching spans translation, interpreting, pragmatics, and intercultural communication. From 2011 to 2015, he was the Director of Academic Program for Languages, TESOL, Interpreting, and Translation, during which he developed numerous courses and provided educational leadership, earning a Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning in 2014. His research focuses on community interpreting and translation, highlighted by his seminal book in Arabic on the subject, Tarjamat al-khadamat al-‘aammah. He has published extensively, including works co-authored in the fields of health translation and multicultural communication. Taibi also contributed to the NSW Regional Advisory Committee of NAATI from 2008 to 2015 and currently supervises PhD candidates in related fields.
