1. Complete Formal Training and Meet Prerequisite Requirements

Before applying for NAATI certification, you must undergo formal training in interpreting or translation. Additionally, you need to satisfy prerequisites, which include demonstrating proficiency in English, ethical competence, and intercultural competency. These requirements differ based on the credential you are pursuing. 2. Pass a Certification Test with NAATI or Demonstrate Work Practice (for Recognised Practising Credentials)

3. Recertify Every Three Years

All NAATI credentials have a three-year validity. To maintain your certification beyond this period, you must undergo recertification by demonstrating that you are actively maintaining your language skills and work practice through continuous professional development.
