Introduction to Medical Terminology – Live Online Course – Mandarin (June 2024)

Overview:

There is a simple way to learn and understand Medical Terminology. Most words are simply a combination of different parts or elements. In this course, you will learn the frequently used roots, prefixes, and suffixes of common medical terminology.

This course is designed for all non-clinical staff working in healthcare settings such as interpreters & translators, medical receptionists, administrative assistants and anyone else working behind the scenes, in a non-clinical role, assisting medical staff.

This course is also recommended for interpreters who are preparing for the Knowledge Test component of the NAATI Certified Specialist Health Interpreter Test.

This course will be presented in Mandarin.

  • Most common diseases and disorders,
  • Assessment and treatment methods, including commonly used medicines.

Course Facilitator:

With clinical experience in China, Malaysia and Australia, Dr Bee Yen Ooi initially studied Clinical Medicine in both Chinese and English language. She has more than 10 years of clinical experience with a special interest in teaching, research and Diagnostic Radiology. Currently working as a Junior Medical Officer in a metropolitan Melbourne hospital, she is additionally the Medical Education Facilitator for All Graduates – Interpreting & Translating, and a tutor for IMG Institute.
She is in ongoing collaboration with a Radiology Department in Beijing, China as a translator and proofreader of research papers.

Dr Ooi is also the Director and Founder of Dana Charity Group, which has implemented projects and fundraising internationally.

Common Investigations and Medications

PD Points:

Learners will be eligible to 40 points towards NAATI recertification (Category 1.4 OR 3.1 of NAATI Recertification Professional Development Catalogue).
