About
Silvia focuses her professional practice in the legal and conference interpreting spaces. She regularly works as court-appointed interpreter in the NSW criminal jurisdiction through Multicultural NSW and in other contexts with private clients. She is proud to be within the first group of interpreters to have gained Certified Specialist Legal Interpreter credentials in Australia, and is committed to ensuring that the best quality interpreting is available to the legal system. As such, she develops and delivers training for interpreters wishing to work in legal domains, and for other professionals on the best ways to work with interpreters. Silvia engages with and contributes to her profession through her active membership of The Australian Institute of Interpreters and Translators (AUSIT) and participation in the examiners’ panel of the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI).
As a Certified Conference Interpreter, she loves the challenges posed by highly specialised meetings such as those within the Antarctic Treaty framework, where she has been interpreting for over a decade.
