Revising Your and Another Translator’s Work – Introduction to Community Translation
Rated 5 out of 5
$47.00
This course will offer a general introduction to translation revision, a distinction between checking one’s own drafts and revising another translator’s work, followed by practical advice relating to revision in the context of community translation. Special emphasis will be placed on language appropriateness, coherence, effective communication and information accessibility in the context of non-specialised translations for the community (e.g., general healthcare awareness, emergency response to healthcare crises such as COVID-19, etc.). Examples of translations and suggested revisions will be provided in Arabic, Chinese, English and Spanish. Participants with other working languages will be encouraged to search the internet for examples of translations in their languages that might require revision.
